Celebrating Thanksgiving in January

January is probably my least favorite month of the year.  There are a lot of positive things about this month and I know it is important to live in the moment and enjoy life, However, I am STILL not a huge fan of this month.  I know January blues can be a common thing too for many people.

We usually try to escape to St. George for a bit every January but haven’t been able to do that so my hubby got the idea to have a Thanksgiving celebration in January.  We invited some friends over and called it “Friendsgiving.”  We had so much fun eating all the traditional Thanksgiving food, decorating with Thanksgiving decor and spending time with friends.  Who says you have to only celebrate holidays on their traditional day?  I am glad my hubs thought of this fun idea.

My hubby brined a turkey for 12 hours the night before the celebration and then put it on the smoker the next day.  The turkey was so delicious and the flavor was amazing.  If you have never eaten a smoked turkey before, I definitely recommend trying it sometime in your life.  If you want the recipe, comment below.

Maybe we will try celebrating my birthday twice a year next;)

Does anyone else get January blues?

What are some ways you beat the blues?
